In the last 25 years, Margaret has become an internationally renowned Scientist and serves on several task forces, steering committees and working groups including REDRESS, KEMRI Wellcome Trust and SWISS TPH. Margaret is the Director of the Institute for Health Research in Ghana and coordinates activities of the centre for health policy and implementation Research. In 2017, she was one of twelve women honoured to receive the first World Health Assembly- Heroines of Health award, for her work highlighting womens’ suffering from the consequences of NTDs. Her ground-breaking work in this field has driven much of our understanding of the socio cultural and gendered effects of NTDs, and female genital schistosomiasis.
