Imelda Bates

As a clinician and a labs systems expert Imelda has experience creating holistic integrated interventions for improved health outcomes.   Imelda is professor in Clinical Tropical Haematology at LSTM and the chair of the Global Haematology group of the British Society for Haematology. She established the vibrant Centre for Capacity Research which is at the forefront of research into how to design, measure and evaluate programmes to strengthen research capacity and laboratory systems in LMICs. She teaches on many of LSTM’s courses and has supervised many successful PhD and Masters’ students and provides mentorship and capacity strengthening.
